A Figma Masterclass Focusing On Trendy UI Design Principals
Augusta Sathasivam and I co-developed and delivered a 45 minute master class in UX / UI design as part of a Microsoft education programme. Having previously participated as a student, I was delighted and honoured to be invited to present this workshop to over 70 students and a few mentors, all whilst having COVID.

Design From A Teenage Perspective
A reflection on my design journey

From a young age I bucked the trend.
I unravelled the world of Lego by forgoing the instructions and forged ahead by designing my own cities and super vehicles. Building my own mini empires became a visual outlet for my creativity and I knew from a young age, that I am an innovator. I distinctly remember my first sojourn into a fully equipped and machine stocked workshop. I was utterly captivated by the materials, full scale models and the copious amount of machines. I was utterly transfixed. I knew that the workshop would soon become my playground where I planned to devote hours to channel my artistry. |
I went on to further my opportunities by pursuing a GCSE and A-level course in Design Technology. I have been able to thoroughly develop myself as a designer, critical thinker and solution spotter through undertaking a variety of self managed project.
There is no greater feeling than the satisfaction I receive from providing suitable resolutions to a consumer needs. I continue to adopt a visionary approach to design in anticipation to develop future-worthy concepts. Design as indeed the future and I am committed to taking my deign journey to the next level. |
My Future AmbitionsBased on my current experiences and motivations, I envisage myself specialising in UX Design. I am keen to enhance tangible and digital assets by applying fundamental UX methodologies to products. Furthermore, having patented a design at the age of 14 and again at 16, I wish to continue down a path of innovation and devise my own solutions to benefit the wider world. For instance, I have recently initiated a project involving emerging technologies and constructed a framework that can be integrated into hospital ecosystems to bring life changing benefits. Through my research and implementation, I have formed concepts with genuine viability and am prepared to scale them.
As a forward-thinking designer, I embrace design iteration where I recognise that the first solution isn't always the best solution. My agility and adaptability allows me to modify outputs accordingly to meet changing project needs. Aside from design, I also love to write and produce music, and present to large audiences. I have had my songs featured on BBC Sounds, co-hosted a BBC radio Gloucestershire Christmas special and have sung to HRH Prince Charles at the age of 10. My twin sister (Poppy) and I wrote a song for the NHS during the first national Lockdown as a message of gratitude. You can watch it here. |

An incredible series of stories illustrated by myself and my twin sister Augusta (Poppy). The adventures of Little Gold Ted has given me the invaluable opportunity to experience life from an illustrators perspective. I cannot describe how much joy the entire process brings me, especially when I see Little Gold Ted being read by little ones. |

Slick Sticks™️
I started my own brand at the age of 14 in 2018. As a passionate drummer, I noticed over time that the more I played, the more calluses, blisters and hand cramps I suffered from. I explored this issue and discovered that I was not the only one who experienced these symptoms. Additionally there was no existing suitable solution. I took it upon myself to develop a viable resolution, aimed at enhancing peoples drumming experience. I ended up designing an item that solved everything, creating what I like to call the Drumstick Revolution. I now provide drummers with unique, padded drumsticks (which have been protected by Intellectual Property) which come in a range of designs (created by myself) to select from. I give drummers the comfort they need to play for prolonged periods of time without disruption. |
Work Experience
Having been constantly inspired by the innovation seen at IBM, I was delighted to have had the equivalent of 4 days work experience across 2 events, covering topics such as AI, VR and Cloud Computing. I am keen to undertake the IBM Practitioner course and explore Enterprise Design

I partook in 2 of Sky's visual work experience courses to discover more about their creative careers involving content management for media outlets, TV production, Business and Technology, investigating App and Web design amongst other Software based job roles

VMWare and PWC online Work Experience courses equipped me with knowledge in: AI, VR / AR, Virtualisation and Cloud. I watched online, live seminars which gave me a thorough insight into complex digital technologies. The future of technology is going to be spectacular

Additional Qualifications And Experiences
BSSPC National Finalist 2020-2021, Shooting 172 and coming 5th out of +200 in individuals event whilst winning the Senior South West Gold in the teams event, scoring a total of 524. Volunteering - Logo Design

I was initially approached by a start up company to design a logo and decided to offer my expertise voluntarily. After working closely to establish and emulate their vision, I went onto produce a series of other bespoke company logos to match the particular clients requirements. I began by producing multiple design versions and went onto fine tuned them. I successfully established a logo for 2 companies: Jenster Properties Ltd and Bourne2, who where happy to have my logo represent their brands visual identity. This was an exceptionally exciting process for me as I was able to gauge the type of work that freelance designers do. Having only self taught myself logo design, it was a milestone to have my work used by companies across the Uk.
Following this experience, I then voluntarily created the Haywardsend House logo after noticing that my house at school lacked a logo. The logo I made was then printed onto flags which were enthusiastically waved on sports day and now have pride of place outside of the house.
Finally, I was approached by a student who requested a logo to match their University project for a Business Masters assignment.
